January 16, 2009: Innaugural Post

Welcome! Today is the first day of the rest of this blog! I am pleased if you have chosen to read this, and if you find value in our discussions, please let me know. I have chosen to dedicate a page to style.

I very much enjoy the Sartorialist's blog, and would encourage all of you to read it, but in a localized setting, I would like to offer the same type of resource for people in my own demographic. This blog will include photos of local sartorialists, as well as discussions on style.

Your comments are welcome, and encouraged. If you have photos of your own for consideration, email me and they will be evaluated. Stay tuned, as more will be coming soon!

Today, I am very interested in your opinions on socks. Loud or brightly colored socks, specifically. I love the look of a bright sock worn with an otherwise conservative outfit. These bright green argyles, as pictured, were picked up from none other than Old Navy, who usually has a fair selection of playful socks at a modest price.

It's great to be able to offer a flash of color when crossing one's legs or walking briskly. Often I pair socks like these with a color in a tie or pocket square, but in the end, a sock is a sock. Rules are really not that important. Another example is shown below, with another bright argyle. These too are from Old Navy. Let's hear from you!
